As of April 2025, there have been 16 mainline Total War games, and other than a major success with the Warhammer series, the reception has been... less than excellent. The last game, Total War: Pharaoh. was released 18 months ago to 'Mixed' user reviews on Steam, and there has been no additional games announced. Rumour is they are working on something, but what?

And will it be any good?

Many feel that the series has grown stale and that each new game is just a reskin of the previous one with very little in the way of improvements or fresh ideas. So what do you think is coming next and do you think there is a way for Creative Assembly to bring the series back to its former greatness?

I think there’s still future for Total War but they still need to do a reset. After Total War: Warhammer III hype, things have been a bit shaky. If they focus on solid historical title again with proper optimization, it will definitely blow. But if they are doing half baked work, they will lose loyal players.

They've annnounced 2 new games, right? There's Medieval 3 and also Warhammer 40k. So there is a future but initial reception will be very impotant for the success of the game.
