Overplanning will frustrate you. I used to map out everything like it was an exam, then one unexpected move just ruins everything. Since then, I make sure to balance it. Have a general plan, but stay flexible. If you lock yourself into one strategy, you will surely suffer when things change. Improvising saves you more than you think, but if you rely only on planning, it's a chaos.
