Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era has revealed a new playable faction, the Schism. Unveiled by Hooded Horse, Ubisoft, and Unfrozen, the Schism will join the lineup of factions in the upcoming turn-based strategy release.

First teased at gamescom’s Awesome Indies showcase, the Schism draws on ice magic, forbidden rites, and eldritch creatures. They originate as a splinter group from the Alvar, breaking away to pursue their own response to the Hive threat. In exile, they built a rigid society around literacy, hierarchy, and the rediscovery of Vori traditions.

Their mechanics emphasize summoning otherworldly horrors and suppressing enemy abilities. Commanders can overwhelm foes with waves of summoned monsters or lock down rival forces through disabling magic. Tentacles are part of the kit.

Other factions already confirmed include Hive, Necropolis, Dungeon, and Sylvan. Ubisoft and Hooded Horse will showcase more on October 9 during a 30th anniversary broadcast for the franchise, which will run on Twitch and YouTube with developer interviews and retrospectives.

Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era will release in Early Access for PC via Steam.
