Real-time is where the real tension is. All that waiting turns feels too slow. I prefer those little chaos and the quick decisions. Yes, it could be stressful, but that’s the fun. If everything is too controlled, it would feel like an exam, not a game.
All these accidental success stories can be very painful 😅. I was grinding like crazy and I planned everything, but I still got betrayed by AI. I spent hours building alliance, the next thing, they gang up on me. So, sometimes, it's not about patience, it's luck. That’s why I stopped taking...
The most unrealistic thing is how smoothly everything works. No delays, everything goes smoothly. In real life, you would come across difficulties here and there. But in these games, you click once and everything obeys immediately. It's a very inspiring fiction. Sometimes I play and just laugh...
Early games are more fun for me. I wont lie because everything is still fresh at that stage. Late games can be very stressful sometimes. There are too many things to manage, plus if you mess up early, you would suffer quietly. The early stage has that clean vibes and you are in control too...
I don't roleplay at all. Any time I get into a game, I don't play as a leader. I just play anyhow, sometimes reckless, sometimes calm depending on my mood. Sometimes I would chill, build the economy like I am a governor planning the city.🤣 All in all, I think it depends on my mood. That is what...
I always pick a faction based on fun, not even the strength. If their buildings doesn't look clean, I will not be interested at all. I just want that futuristic glow and a smooth design. There was a time I picked a faction just because their base looked like something from a movie, the next...
The so-called “hero units” are just developers trying to impress lazy players. I remembered a game where a single hero was doing the work of an entire army. It was very realistic indeed, in fact too realistic for my liking. Strategy games should be about systems, not one overhyped champion...
I start slow, but once I reach the middle of the game, it becomes a full aggression. Early in the game, I usually do my calculations, build gradually because one mistake can wipe out every other thing. But as I progressed, I don't think too much again, because I already have a solid plan on...
This has been a very common question. Even me, I am not too fast but I still enjoy slower paced RTS games. It must not necessarily be of the StarCraft speed type. I just pick games that focus more on planning not speed and I am very okay with them.
The issue of “luck” is a big one in strategy games and it is where many developers deceive us. Strategy games are supposed to reward your hardwork, not luck. I remembered how my well-planned attack failed because of one random nonsense. If I wanted that kind of uncertainty, I would play some...
I don't like the unit that spoils the balance of the game. I remember the RTS I played that time, there was a heavy tank and once you have 5 of them, the game is over already. All the enemies would run for cover.🤣 Since that day, I don't trust “overpowered” units anymore. They will make the...
Any time I open a new strategy game, the first thing I did wasnt even looking the tutorial, I went straight to the settings to reduce the graphics 😂. My laptop is not a gaming beast.🤣 It's of low spec. Then I checked the controls. After that, I would zoom the map and admire things before the...
XCOM is the undisputed king. It's a good game, yes but it's too dependent on RNG. The strategy games are supposed to reward planning more than luck. Sometimes you play a perfect game, but still get punished. That one is never a pure strategy again. There are other games that balance skill and...
Some indie tactics games will frustrate you more. Difficulty is not only about stress, some games are quick to punishing your mistakes. some games don't even give room to recover at all. Darkest Dungeon still get structure compared to some madness out there.
I don't really like fixed chances. The randomness give the game life. The unpredictabilty can be painful sometimes but it create tension. If everything is predictable, it would feel less instresting.
Managing people is harder? nahh 😅 I prefer that than those boring base building. At least the human element is very unpredictable. That is more engaging than just watching structures upgrade slowly.
The “realistic war” thing is not always interesting. I don't need a game that would depress me. I tried one war game like that, I just got tired. sometimes exaggeration and fun mechanics makes the game enjoyable. realism is not everything.
More factions do not solve the core problem. If the gameplay loop is weak, even 100 factions will not change anything. The devs are using quantity to cover up for lack of depth. They fail to realise that great mechanics is what keeps the game alive, not just adding more options.
I think the “different factions equals better game” talk 😅 sometimes is imbalance disguised as creativity. I remember one RTS where one faction dominates, no strategy whatsoever . Modern players do not tolerate that kind of thing. This means that balance surpasses uniqueness sometimes.
Starting with the campaign is not a compulsory path 😅. Some of us learn faster under pressure. I jumped straight into multiplayer that time, I lost but I improve quickly. Campaigns are sometimes too slow, you would just be bored.
